DPL Valves & Filters: PED & ATEX Information
Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) and the UK Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 SI 1105
DPL valves fall within the category of Sound Engineering Practice for hygienic use, at pressures not exceeding 10 bar, and for group 2 liquid use only (non-hazardous liquids).
Our valves and filters are suitable for liquid use only, and are not designed for dry, gas or air applications.
This is in-line with the pressure/size constraints in the directive / UK regulations for valves, as per the BVAA (British Valve and Actuator Manufacturers Associations) guidelines. When requested at the time of purchase, our Test Certificate and Declaration of Incorporation will be issued with each valve order, stating that the valve is designed and manufactured in accordance with Sound Engineering Practice, Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) and UK Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 SI 1105.
ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU & The Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2016 SI 1107
- A range of DPL valves is optionally available with ATEX certification, please enquire.
- DPL valves and filters are limited to usage with conductive group 2 (non-hazardous) liquids only.
- They must not be used in “Anti-static” or dry / gas applications.
- Our ATEX certification applies to the external atmosphere only. DPL valves and filters must never be used with a potentially explosive atmosphere inside them.
- We provide installation and operating instructions with each valve / filter that include conditions for safe use. Valves & filters carry the “X” marking after the certificate number to indicate specific conditions for use, which must be adhered to.
- We can also supply certified additional equipment such as switch heads, positioners & solenoid valves. These carry their own ATEX certification.
- Valves are typically marked as depicted below, always refer to the actual markings on the valve. Please check our website to ensure you are using the latest installation and operating instructions. Available from: www.dpluk.co.uk.
